Cotton is what carries your flavour

In a rebuildable coil, the cotton draws liquid toward the wire and lets it evaporate evenly. If it is too dense it starves the coil, and if it is too loose it floods it. The right cotton makes the difference between a crisp flavour and a burnt one.

Types of wicking material

Organic cotton is the popular pick, as it is soft, unscented and quick to absorb. Some makers sell pre-cut strips or pads to save time. Others supply longer loose lengths for people who like to trim their own.

Wicking a coil step by step

Thread a small piece through the coil, trim both ends and tuck them into the wicking channels. Then drip liquid onto it until saturated, and let it soak for a few minutes. Never fire a dry wick.
