Cells that keep your mod running

Removable-cell mods depend on rechargeable batteries, and the two common sizes are 18650 and 21700. The numbers describe the diameter and length in millimetres. The 21700 is a bit larger and holds more charge.

Capacity versus discharge rating

Capacity, in mAh, tells you how long a cell lasts between charges. The continuous discharge rating, in amps, shows how much current it can safely deliver. For vaping, never pick a cell with a lower rating than your device demands.

Match and pair

In a dual-battery mod, use two identical cells of the same age and brand, and keep them together as a pair. Mixing can cause uneven wear. Check that your mod supports the size you pick.

Storage and safety

Keep cells in a case, never loose in a pocket with keys or coins. Replace any with torn wraps and use a proper charger.
